Student of the month: August 2022

🔊 Announcing our student of the month for August... Fiona! Congratulations Fiona for being nominated by your tutor for all your hard work this semester! Fiona has chosen to share an image of the Italian lakes along with some reflections on her experience of language learning with Lingo Flamingo. Here's what she had to say!

Can you tell us a bit about your chosen picture? What aspect of your language learning journey does it represent to you?

"The reason I chose this picture is that because I am learning Italian I am now able to use public transport to travel further than my holiday destination, buy bus tickets at the bus station, order food in restaurants, buy boat tours and shop. When I was finished I was able to ask people how to return to Verona where I was staying."

What is your favourite word/phrase you have learnt so far?

"The phrase that I liked this term was created by one of my fellow students. We were learning how to use the negative form and he created ‘Niente e’ per sempre’ - ‘nothing is forever’. A good thought in these times and helpful if you are learning Italian verbs and your brain is not cooperating!"

What's your favourite part of learning with Lingo Flamingo?

"My favourite part of the lesson is working with the other students. We play games and work in teams. It’s fun and everyone encourages each other. You don’t need to worry about making errors as the class is relaxed and supportive. Elisabeth teaches us about Italian culture and I love that she is a native speaker. She is patient and funny. We all leave class with a smile on our faces."

How have you used your language skills so far?

"Outside of class I use the skills to help with my addiction - Montalbano! It feels great to be able to watch the Sicilian detective and understand some of what he is saying!"

"I will be signing up for further lessons and I am looking forward to developing more confidence in speaking and reading Italian."

Grazie e ben fatto Fiona! 🧠 🤩
